Hello! I’m Martha Needham, a seasoned photographer with a deep-rooted passion for capturing life through the lens. My journey as a visual storyteller spans various genres, from the rustic charm of western lifestyles to the high-octane world of sports and rodeos and music.

Western Lifestyle & Rodeo Photography

I grew up in the South, surrounded by country life rather than western culture—but it sparked a deep curiosity for the western world. That pull led me to immerse myself in western lifestyle and rodeo photography. I chase the raw, unfiltered moments: the grit of the riders, the working landscapes, and the traditions that define life in the arena. My work is rooted in authenticity and has been recognized for its honest, documentary-driven approach to the western way of life.

Sports Photography

My foray into sports photography has been equally rewarding. As a sports photojournalist, I have covered numerous events, from local matches to national championships. My ability to capture the intensity and emotion of athletes in the heat of competition has earned me multiple photo press awards, including the prestigious Alabama Press Photo of the Year. I pride myself on my knack for visual storytelling, capturing not just the action, but the spirit and dedication of the athletes.

Media Photographer for NFR and PBR

I am honored to have served as a media photographer for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and Professional Bull Riders (PBR) events. These opportunities have allowed me to work alongside some of the best in the industry, capturing the heart-stopping moments and behind-the-scenes stories of these thrilling rodeo sports. Being part of such esteemed events has enriched my portfolio and provided invaluable experiences.

Music Photography

Live shows don't wait. Neither do I.

Years shooting rodeos taught me to track fast, unpredictable action. I bring that reflex to the pit. I shoot wide for the crowd surge, tight for album art, and everything that tells the story of the night.

I've covered stages big and small across the South, from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to the Von Braun Center & Mars Music Hall in Huntsville, plus Rock the South . Mud, rain, heat, pyro, no problem. I travel light and deliver fast-turn galleries for artists, venues, promoters, and media outlets.
